What Are the PHP 8.3 New Features

I have covered in detail several features of PHP 8.3 in this blog in different articles. So I am going just give a brief overview the new feature benefits with links to each of those articles that detail those features.

For other features that I have not covered in separate articles, you can check the respective RFC (Request For Change) pages or pull requests.

1. Cloning objects with read-only properties can be done more than once (RFC)

2. Error handling of Date and Time values is improved (RFC)

3. Error handling of unserialize value is improved (RFC)

4. json_validate function with validate JSON data without using too much memory

5. Randomizer Class will generate better random values

6. SameSite Cookie support provides better protection against Cross-Site Request Forgery (CSRF) attacks

7. Stack Overflow detection makes PHP more stable and avoids PHP crashes (pull request)

8. mb_str_pad() function to add padding strings in UTF-8 (multi-byte) strings

9. The range() function will trigger exceptions where there are invalid parameter values

10. Deprecate functions with overloaded signatures

11. Path to Saner Increment/Decrement operators

12. Deprecate remains of string evaluated code assertions

When PHP 8.3 Release Date Will Be

The estimated date for the final PHP 8.3.0 release is November 23, 2023. In previous releases of PHP, there were delayes that pushed the release date towards December. So if this release gets delayed, it is normal.
